THE HAGUE & DELFT WINE TASTING GROUP

WINE TASTINGS IN DELFT

POURED FROM OUR OWN CELLARSince 2017, my wife and I have hosted monthly themed wine tastings at our home in Delft. Many of the wines come straight from my own 2500-bottle cellar, poured at exactly the right moment to drink. Expect a proper spread of food, an international crowd, and an evening built around good company as much as good wine.

HOW IT WORKS

SERIOUS ABOUT THE WINE

RELAXED ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSEEvery tasting has a theme: a region, a grape, or an idea like how wine changes as it ages. We walk through each wine together and talk about what makes it interesting, but there's no test at the end. Half our guests are serious wine people, half are just curious, and both leave happy.Food gets the same attention as the wine. Think proper cheese and charcuterie, not a bowl of crisps. Groups are capped at 15 guests, so conversations stay easy. Regulars come from Delft, The Hague, and Rotterdam, roughly half Dutch and half expat.

THE WINE COLLECTOR

I'm Daniel, 38, father of three and on the board of a Dutch scale-up. I've spent the last 15 years building my own collection and I'm just as likely to be tasting wines at home in Delft, at an organized tasting or with producers across Europe during my holidays. What I care about most is the story behind a bottle: not just the grape and the vintage, but who made it and why, and what was happening in that corner of the world when it was picked. My wife brings a real passion for good food and entertaining guests to our tastings. Together we have had the incredible pleasure of sharing our passion for wine with hundreds of guests over the yearsDe hosts spreken vloeiend Nederlands en Engels, dus voel je vrij om in beide talen te reageren

Save your spot

New themes drop monthly and spots go fast. Every tasting is capped at 15 guests, so once it's full it's full. Registration and payment happen through Meetup.Wine Tasting: New World Chardonnay
Date: Sat, Aug 1 · 8:15 PM
Location note: Voorburg this time, not our usual Delft spot
Description: Chardonnay gets blamed for being boring, but the new world tells a different story. We'll taste how climate, oak, and winemaking choices turn the same grape into wildly different wines.
Wine Tasting: The Incredibly Diverse Wines of Rioja
Date: Sat, Sep 5 · 8:15 PM
Location: Delft
Description: Rioja is often reduced to one style of oaky red, but the region covers far more ground than that. We'll taste across grapes, aging classifications, and winemaking traditions to see what Rioja actually offers.
